- 1 package 10 oz frozen chopped spinach, thawed, drained, and squeezed dry of excess water
- 1 container 16 oz sour cream
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 package Knorr Vegetable Recipe Mix soup mix packet
- 1 can 8 oz water chestnuts, drained and chopped
- 3 green onions chopped
- 1 round loaf of bread pumpernickel, sourdough, or boule for serving
- Assorted favorite dippers fresh vegetables, crackers, bread cubes
Prepare spinach – Thaw the frozen spinach and squeeze out all excess water using paper towels or a clean kitchen towel.
Mix dip base – In a large bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, and Knorr Vegetable Recipe Mix. Stir until smooth.
Add veggies – Stir in the drained spinach, chopped water chestnuts, and green onions until evenly distributed.
Chill – Cover and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours (overnight is even better) so the flavors can meld together.
Prepare bread bowl – Hollow out a round loaf of bread and cut the center into cubes for dipping.
Serve – Spoon the chilled spinach dip into the bread bowl, place on a platter, and surround with bread cubes, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
-
Be sure to squeeze the spinach well—excess water can make the dip watery.
-
Chill time is key: the flavors develop beautifully if left overnight.
-
Swap mayo with plain Greek yogurt for a lighter version.
-
Water chestnuts add crunch, but you can omit them if you prefer a smoother dip.
-
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
