Ingredients
  

  • 500 g mascarpone cheese
  • 24 ladyfingers Savoiardi biscuits
  • 1 cup strong espresso coffee
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3 egg whites
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 tablespoons coffee liqueur or Marsala wine, dark rum, or brandy
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder

Instructions
 

  • Making the Mascarpone Mixture
  • Whisk egg yolks and sugar in a double boiler for about 10 minutes until thick and pale yellow.
  • Let the mixture cool, then mix it with softened mascarpone cheese and whipped cream.
  • Preparing the Coffee Dipping Solution
  • Brew strong espresso coffee and mix it with sugar.
  • Add dark rum or coffee liqueur for extra flavor.
  • Assembly and Layering
  • Quickly dip each ladyfinger in the coffee mixture (1-2 seconds per side).
  • Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in a dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  • Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
  • Final Cocoa Powder Dusting
  • Dust the top with cocoa powder.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours before serving.
